I’m sure many of you watched it just now – the Pope’s trip
to Castel Gandolfo and his last appearance in public. He spoke to us without
using papers –from his heart – giving thanks once more and saying that from now
on, “I’ll be just a simple pilgrim”.

The sun is setting here in Rome, setting also on the era of
a great Pope, our dear Benedict.
