4th day of cardinals' meetings

Saint Peter's Square March 7th
Dear Family and Friends,

The rain let up today a little, thank God. There were a lot of people trying to get into Saint Peter’s as you can see in the photo. There were also camera crews all over the place.

The Cardinals are still at their meetings, today talking about the Vatican and its finances, ecumenism, the new evangelization, the charitable activity of the Church, and the qualities they would like to see in the new pope. They obviously want to get everything on the table, and this is essential, for many of the cardinals come from far away. These meetings are also giving them time to get to know each other.

Last I heard, the Vietnamese Cardinal was still somewhere between Vietnam and Rome. Maybe we need to send a rescue squad!

Tomorrow’s Friday, and during Lent on Fridays we all try to offer something up together – usually meat. It’s a simple practice that unites millions of people across the globe with each other and with the suffering of Our Lord – the true Head of the Church.

The Cardinals will be fasting too, so let’s unite our sacrifice with theirs!

God bless,
Brother Kevin
