Rainy day at Saint Peter's |
It rained much of today here in Rome. Spring has really
started.
The Cardinals had another meeting this morning, focusing
again on the new evangelization and on the qualities they’d like to see in the
next Pope. They are waiting for the last cardinal to arrive before deciding
when to start the conclave. The one who’s missing is Cardinal Pham Minh Man of
Vietnam – it’s not so easy getting out of a communist country, but he should
make it here tomorrow.
As they get closer to the conclave, the Cardinals are trying
to reduce their contacts with the press and the outside world. This is so that
they can feel free to speak their minds to each other without fear of what they
say going public. Some might criticize the secrecy of a papal conclave, but
they forget that we all demand our privacy when we vote for president or prime
minister. This election is much much more important than any political
election.
Let’s say a prayer that Vietnamese Cardinal makes it to
town!
God bless,
Brother Kevin
